Xavier McKinney Has Strong Belief About Packers Despite Loss Sunday
Through two weeks, the Green Bay Packers looked like one of the best teams in the NFL, if not the best.
Their offense was efficient and rolling, and even though he was playing less than half of the snaps, the addition of Micah Parsons looked like it was working better than anyone could have hoped.
That positivity died off to a degree in their Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns, a result that few people predicted heading into this matchup.
Green Bay squandered a fourth-quarter lead, making some people question whether they’re Super Bowl favorites after all.
Xavier McKinney tried to put these thoughts to bed, as he noted in a postgame press conference shared on the Packers’ website.
“I still think we got a great team. I think we gon’ do some special things this year,” McKinney said. “But I also think it’s good that we learned this lesson early. I’d rather learn it early than late, so I think that’s really the biggest lesson that we learned right now.”
He noted that one game doesn’t determine the outlook of an entire season, and that he still believes this team is capable of great things.
The defense looked strong, as the defensive line and secondary held their own, albeit against an offense that has had struggles of its own to this point in the season.
Had Jordan Love not made a frustrating interception in the fourth quarter, the Packers likely would have won this game with ease, something he doesn’t do very often.
It will be interesting to see how they learn from this, as McKinney noted, getting a chance to showcase their skills on a Sunday Night Football clash with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.
