Winners of the 2025 Sustainability and Print Innovation Awards announced at World Printers Summit
The World Printers Forum has announced the winners of this year’s Sustainability and Print Innovation Awards, honouring excellence in media innovation, reader engagement and sustainability in publishing.
The awards were presented during the annual World Printers Summit, held in Munich, with professionals from across the global print industry gathering to share ideas and celebrate outstanding achievement.
The 2025 awards recognised leaders in three key categories: reader engagement, the fusion of print and digital, and advertising creativity.
Gundula Ullah, Chairwoman of the Jury and Chief Sustainability Officer at Funke Mediengruppe, presented the awards and congratulated the winners on their achievements. Representatives from dmg media were unable to attend the ceremony.

Next Gen Reader Engagement Award
• Prothom Alo, Bangladesh: “Echoes of Defiance: Engaging a Generation Through Truth and Resilience”
Bangladeshi daily Prothom Alo was recognised for its commitment to youth engagement and press freedom during the July Revolution in 2024. The project gave young voices a vital platform and reaffirmed journalism’s role in politically challenging times – rooted in truth, independent, and strong principles.
Print Digital Fusion Award (joint winners)
• New Straits Times, Malaysia: “Heard the News?”
Malaysia’s New Straits Times impressed the jury with its innovative educational initiative ‘Heard the News?’, which bridges journalism and language education in a creative, accessible format.
• dmg media, Ireland: “ExtraG”
Ireland’s ExtraG Gach Seachtain, a weekly bilingual print and digital supplement from dmg media Ireland and the Irish Daily Mail, was recognised for meeting new legislative requirements while also highlighting cultural and commercial potential, bringing the Irish language to life for the next generation audience.
Print Advertising Creativity Award
• Prothom Alo, Bangladesh: “Beyond the Capital”
Prothom Alo picked up a second award for Beyond the Capital, a regional supplement designed for communities often underserved by traditional distribution. The project demonstrated the power of hyperlocal journalism, combining editorial relevance with a compelling advertising proposition that supports local businesses and fosters community identity.
