Packers Urged To Acquire Veteran Defender At Trade Deadline
The Green Bay Packers are one of the best teams in the league right now.
Nevertheless, even the best teams can be improved.
With that in mind, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report identified a strong trade target that would make perfect sense for them:
“Acquire DT Sebastian Joseph-Day from the Titans,” Gagnon wrote. “Joseph-Day is an experienced defensive lineman with an expiring contract on a team that should be selling a player his age. The 30-year-old makes sense for a contender like Green Bay that is thinner than usual in that spot following the preseason Kenny Clark trade. This would definitely be worth a late-round pick.”
The Packers’ defense has been quite stout against the run, even without Kenny Clark in the mix.
Then again, we’re talking about a team with Super Bowl aspirations, and as such, they can’t afford to rest on their laurels.
They need to make more moves to make sure to have all the resources they need to get over the top.
Adding Micah Parsons to the mix has worked wonders for their pass rush, and Rashan Gary is on pace to have a career year by his side.
The secondary defense could still use a helping hand, especially given how much CB Nate Hobbs has struggled.
But as much as that should be a priority ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, adding another defensive lineman won’t hurt, especially given how little they would have to give up to get him.
The Tennessee Titans are already thinking about the 2026 NFL Draft, and while they will reportedly hold onto star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, it won’t make much sense to retain other veterans.
The rich always get richer, and Packers GM Brian Gutekunst needs to make the most of the Titans’ panic sale to give defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley more toys to play with.
