Courtland Sutton Says He Has ‘Utmost Confidence’ In Key Broncos Unit

There was a lot of talk about the Denver Broncos in the offseason.

Head coach Sean Payton gushed about the team, claiming that it was one of the few times in his career that he felt that they could legitimately make a Super Bowl run.

Then, they looked like an absolute juggernaut of a team in the preseason.

That’s why, even though they weren’t as dominant in their home opener, hopes are still high at Mile High.

That’s especially true with their defense.

At least, that’s how Courtland Sutton feels.

When asked about that unit, the Broncos’ star wide receiver gushed about them:

“There’s not one day… that I show up and I’m like, ‘I don’t know if our defense is going to be able to do it today.’ I have the utmost confidence, belief and faith in our defense,” Sutton said, per Zac Stevens.

It’s hard to feel otherwise, all things considered.

They have the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Patrick Surtain II, holding things down in the secondary, and a promising pass-rusher like Nik Bonitto also doing his thing.

Vance Joseph has made a name for himself for his expertise as a defensive guru, and Sean Payton’s teams have usually fared quite well on that side of the field.

The Broncos’ offense didn’t look as sharp in the first game of the season, but the defense held its ground and kept No. 1 pick Cam Ward on his toes from start to finish.

Now, things will get a little tougher, as they will hit the road to face the Indianapolis Colts.
