Commanders Given Unfavorable Odds To Make Playoffs
The Washington Commanders entered this season with high expectations after their stunning run to the NFC Championship just a year ago behind rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
That momentum has disappeared.
Injuries have disrupted their rhythm, with Daniels suffering a low-grade right hamstring strain late in Sunday’s loss to Dallas that will sideline him for Week 8.
The same team that thrived on consistency now searches for answers as playoff hopes fade.
Washington sits at 3-4 heading into their matchup with the Chiefs, trailing the Eagles and Cowboys in the NFC East while holding only a narrow edge over the Giants.
The absence of Daniels has hit their postseason chances hard.

After Kansas City, Washington returns home to face the Seahawks and Lions, both sitting at 5-2 and among the NFC’s top contenders.
Those games will test a team already struggling to find its identity without its starting quarterback leading the offense.
Injuries have been relentless this season.
Constant lineup changes have disrupted the chemistry that defined last year’s success, forcing adjustments that have thrown off the team’s balance.
Discipline has also become a concern, with 53 penalties ranking eighth in the league and too many coming at critical moments that stall drives or negate big plays.
Defensively, the Commanders have regressed.
The pass rush shows occasional flashes, but the secondary continues surrendering deep completions that swing momentum.
Offensively, the ground game ranks second in rushing yards per game, yet maintaining that consistency week to week remains a challenge without Daniels orchestrating the attack.
The issues facing Washington are fixable, but time is running short.
If the Commanders want to stay relevant in a competitive NFC race, they need to find solutions quickly and rediscover the balance that carried them so far last season.
