Akim Tamiroff will have been 125 years old today.
Famous as one of the main characters in actors of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Akim Tamiroff was an iconic Armenian-American actor. Akim performed on stage, in films, and on television.
He was born on October 29, 1899, making him one of the most famous people born today. Akim was born to Armenian parents in Baku, Russian Empire. Akin enrolled at the Moscow Art Theatre drama school at the age of 19 and studied there for 9 years.
He started performing on stage at the Moscow Art Theatre drama school when he joined the La Chauve-Souris touring revue with Nikita Balieff. After a three-month revue tour in the United States, he returned in 1924 but moved permanently to the United in October 1927 and joined the Theatre Guild in New York City, where he partnered with his future wife, Tamara Shayne.
