PFF Ranks NFL Teams By Salary Cap Space
While eight NFL teams are battling for a shot at this season’s Super Bowl championship, the rest of the league is starting to plot the moves that may be made to get a shot at glory next season.
Navigating the salary cap, which is considered a hard cap, is very tricky, and thus when a team has lots of space available, it must be used wisely.
According to Pro Football Focus, the New England Patriots, who have had a hard time getting their rebuilding project off the ground ever since Tom Brady left, have the most cap space in the league right now, while the New Orleans Saints have the least.

The Patriots, who finished 4-13 and will have the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, will have more than $100 million in salary cap space, which will give them a unique opportunity to shape their roster moving forward.
They may have their quarterback of the future in Drake Maye, but they need help at just about every other position on both sides of the football.
New Orleans was picked by many people to finish first in the NFC South last season, but it fell a bit short of doing so, and this season went 5-12 and missed the playoffs.
Derek Carr, who was signed prior to the 2023 campaign, hasn’t worked out at quarterback, and much like New England, New Orleans needs plenty of help.
But it will be very difficult for them to get that type of help when they’re reportedly more than $50 million over the cap.
