How you can take part in World News Day 2026

In 2024, 800 publishers stood together for World News Day. In 2025, that number grew to 1,000+ across 108 countries and 17 languages. This growth is proof that when we unite, our voice grows stronger.

World News Day 2026, on 28 September, is our moment to show the world that journalism remains essential, resilient and united.

We invite you to join the campaign and help audiences understand what goes into journalism and why it matters.

Over the coming two months, we’ll share resources and ideas to help you turn World News Day into a meaningful moment with your audiences.

WHAT’S NEW IN 2026

This year, we are expanding the campaign to include:

  • Enhanced multilingual support: Materials will be available in 20+ languages.

  • Regional coordinators: On-the-ground support in key regions to assist with implementation.

  • Measurement and tracking: We will track the campaign’s global reach.

  • Post-campaign report: A comprehensive report showcasing the global scale of our solidarity, which you can share with your audiences and stakeholders.

TIMELINE

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Sign up here.
  • Access campaign materials: We will provide you with customisable advertising materials in multiple formats and languages at the start of September. These materials are designed to seamlessly integrate into your existing workflows. They can be adapted to your brand, your language and your audience. We will also provide editorial materials: op-eds, cartoons, video and images for social media.
  • You can do more for World News Day: commission your own articles, share videos of our journalists on camera talking about their journalism, dedicate a podcast, newsletter or event to make the most of the moment.
  • Run the campaign in the week 25 September to 2 October: Use your unsold advertising inventory and channels (print, digital, broadcast, social) to display the World News Day message.
  • Join our coordination calls (optional): We will host regional briefing sessions in the lead-up to 28 September for those who have signed up – to answer questions, share best practices and strengthen our network.
