Cam Ward Sends Warning To Teams That Pass On Him In Draft
The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and with it, we’ll get to see the stars of tomorrow walk their first steps in the National Football League.
That’s the most memorable event in most players’ careers, although not always for the best reasons.
Some players care more about the teams that didn’t take them than the ones that did get them.
Notably, that might be the case with Cam Ward.
Upon receiving a major award, the Miami star put the league on notice with a not-so-subtle warning:
“OK, you’re either going to draft me or you’re not,” Ward said Monday night before receiving the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s top college quarterback. “If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”
That’s the kind of mindset you want to see from your franchise player.
Of course, he now has to put his money where his mouth is; otherwise, this take will not age well.
For good reasons, Ward is projected to be the first quarterback off the board.
Nevertheless, this NFL Draft class isn’t very rich at the quarterback position, and some believe that not even Ward has a high enough upside to be granted the top selection.
The Tennessee Titans have the No. 1 pick and could certainly use an improvement over Will Levis, thus making it a potential and logical destination.
Still, there have been rumors about the Titans either looking to get Colorado star WR/CB Travis Hunter or the New York Giants looking to trade up to get Shedeur Sanders.
Both of those teams have been warned, and they will have to deal with the consequences of their actions.
