Beyond adoption: How publishers are using AI now
DOWNLOAD REPORT
Thinking beyond just adoption – the next AI phase for publishers brings together a global survey, research on AI adoption and nine publisher case studies.
Among the 125 publishing executives surveyed across 40 countries, about 80 percent describe their organisations’ AI use as emerging or advanced. Yet 78 percent find it difficult to measure its value, and only 10 percent say it has helped generate revenue.
Ezra Eeman examines the survey findings, from productivity gains to uncertainty over search referrals and licensing.
Katya Gorchinskaya adds a wider perspective through Jindex.ai, her database of more than 3,150 publicly disclosed AI use cases, exploring where adoption is concentrated and what deeper organisational change involves.
The case studies show how publishers are approaching these questions in practice. For example:
- Nikkei uses AI-assisted drafts to expand corporate coverage
- POLITICO helps subscribers search specialist reporting
- Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and The Hindu use propensity models to guide reader journeys
- Ippen explores distribution within AI conversations, and
- The Mail is testing visibility in AI answers
