Jalen Brunson Reveals What Knicks Did In Win Against Celtics
The New York Knicks were on their way to a big defeat against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night.
They were down by 20 points, and nothing seemed to be working.
But the Knicks eventually rallied back, forced overtime, and then stunned the Celtics by taking home a 108-105 win.
Following the game, Jalen Brunson talked to ESPN and explained how his teammates kept their heads in the game.
“We told each other to just keep believing; keep firing. Keep sticking together and chipping away,” star guard Jalen Brunson said. “There wasn’t going to be a 20-point shot, so we had to keep chipping away possession by possession.”
Slowly but surely, the Knicks kept their hopes alive and didn’t give up the fight.
They didn’t lose confidence, and that’s a huge part of their win.
Of course, the Celtics helped them out, especially when it came to their three-point shooting.
They had a playoff-record 60 three-point attempts during the game, missing a stunning 45 of them.
For some reason, Boston didn’t change their approach from shooting outside the arc, which was very odd, especially considering Karl-Anthony Towns was in foul trouble and would have been limited at stopping them in the paint.
But it wasn’t just Boston that made this win possible, because the Knicks had a game plan and stuck to it.
They knew it would take a lot to close the gap, but they also understood they wouldn’t get anywhere by giving up.
Now they have even more confidence because they stole this massive game on the road.
If they had belief before, they have plenty more now, and the Celtics should be on high alert.
