Paraskevopoulos: “We are aware that we are representing our country”
The Young Men's National is in Heraklion and now counts on the first U20 Eurobol jumper.
The preparation is coming to an end, and the team leader, Haris Paraskevopoulos, looks back, preparation, and then, in the coming event, in the expectations that exist and in the big difference with last year's Eurobasket: the presence of the world!
“The month of our preparation rolled ideally for all the children in the group, who is staffed by highly experienced people. This has helped to make the conditions under which we work and prepare yes are ideal. It is something that allows us to give our best every day. Undoubtedly the rhythms are very intense, but we all try to meet every workout to meet the requirements of the training team from us and we from ourselves. The goal of all is to get the best possible preparation for the difficult test of Eurobasket that begins next week. “
The Young Men's National has two last preparation matches before the start of Eurobasket against Iceland on July 6 and 7: “There are still two loud friendly with Iceland, which will be our last tests before the demanding Eurobasket. It will be an opportunity to face the work we have done and the effort we have made all this time, to see our racing situation and in general, it will help us to draw some last conclusions before the tournament begins. “
Last year, Paraskevopoulos lived through the bronze medal with the National Young Men in Poland. This year the effort will be made on Greek territory: with some of my teammates this year we were together last year in winning the bronze medal in Poland. And last year we all dominated the thought of conquering, again, of the bronze medal in Crete in 2023. You understand, therefore, that this year's U20 also has in mind the two back to back medals that our country has won in the past two years. Certainly, the reflection alone of these successes is an additional “weight”, but it is up to us to manage the situation and to do our best by trying for a similar result, for a medal. “
Paraskevopoulos does not hide that the team has high expectations, knowing well from his previous experience that the mission is anything but easy in an event with many races in a short period of time.
“Our expectations, undoubtedly, are particularly high because we are fighting in our country, with our world being the 6th player and on the other because we have worked very hard all this time and want to achieve something worthy of the effort we have made so far. We are all aware and we are aware that we are representing the coat of arms and the whole Greek nation. We must all be ready and give 100% of our strengths in order to be able to make our country proud and make another success. The presence of the world is something that will surely make us all feel better, so we are waiting for it on the pitch. “
