Olympiakos Academies Award: Honor to young athletes and their families

On the morning of Sunday January 18, 2026, in the “Melina Merkouri” hall, the Olympiacos Basketball Academy honored its young athletes for their sports and academic distinctions of the 2024-2025 season. At the same time, the event highlighted the contribution of athletes’ families and important partners who support the development departments.

The event was attended by athletes, coaches, scientific staff, parents, representatives of the men’s team and the administration of KAE Olympiacos, as well as representatives of the St Paul Educational Organization and Amateur Olympiacos.

Prizes for adolescent and children’s Divisions

The event started with a greeting from the Director of the Academies, Achillea Demenagas, and continued with the awarding of the teenage team, which won the ESKANA Championship and reached the semi-finals of the Panhellenic Championship.

Afterwards, the Olympiakos boys, undefeated ESKANA champions, who took 2nd place in the Panhellenic Championship in Mytilini, were honored.

At the same time, the coaching and support staff of the children’s and youth departments were honored for their dedication and work, as well as the U15 and U14 teams for their successes in the Legacy Cup.

Individual distinctions and academic excellence

The event also included awards for players who distinguished themselves in categories such as:

Most Coachable Players – awarded by Tyson Ward

Hardest Workers – awarded by Tyler Dorsey

Best Teammates – awarded by Nikola Miloutinov and Giannouli Larentzakis

In addition, the meritorious Middle and High School students were honored by St Paul’s High School, as well as the athletes who were admitted to universities, by the head of the SEF Press Office.

Special recognition was given to Giorgos Bournele for his first professional contract and to Aristidis Glynos for his exemplary morals and academic excellence.

In the end, two great members of Olympiakos were honored for their long-term contribution to the infrastructure departments:

Panagiotis Maroulis – 20 years of contribution to the Academies

Kostas Lialias – 26 years of continuous contribution to the organization

Statements by players and administrators

The coach and players of Olympiakos, Giorgos Bartzokas, Nikola Miloutinov and Giannoulis Larentzakis, spoke about the importance of the event, the inspiration that the men’s team offers to the children and wished health, progress and new successes for all the young athletes.

The Director of the Academies, Achilleas Demenagas, emphasized:

“Today is the most important day of our Academy off the field. We are honoring 98 athletes for their athletic and scholastic achievements and I wish everyone a happy new year with health and progress.”
