NBA: Giannis Antetokounmpo on Antebayo’s 83 points – “What’s left is the 83”
Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point performance in the NBA caused a huge sensation across the league. The Miami Heat center led his team to a 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards, posting one of the greatest offensive performances in league history.
Shortly after the end of the Milwaukee Bucks’ game against the Phoenix Suns, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked to comment on Antebayo’s legendary night, expressing his admiration for the achievement.
Giannis’s reaction to the historic game
The “Greek Freak” characterized the performance of the Heat center as impressive, stressing that such performances are the result of hard work.
“I heard he scored 83 points. It’s incredible. It says a lot about the work he does every day. “I didn’t see the game, but I definitely have to,” Antetokounmpo initially said.
When informed that Adebayo had taken 43 shots in the match, the Greek superstar emphasized that it is not the manner that matters, but the result.
“Years from now everyone will only remember the number”
The leader of the Bucks explained that in the history of basketball what remains is the number of points, not the manner in which they were achieved.
“It doesn’t matter how you get there. What matters is that you made it. In 10, 20 or 30 years no one will remember how many shots he made or how many shots he took. For example, everyone remembers Kobe’s 81 points or Wilt’s 100. You don’t remember how they got in. You only remember the number,” he said.
Humor before the match Bucks – Heat
Antetokounmpo also addressed the Milwaukee Bucks’ upcoming game against the Miami Heat, joking about Adebayo’s performance.
“We will try not to put 83 points. Let’s put… 82! We will do everything we can to keep him at 82,” he said with a laugh.
Bam Adebayo’s historic night in the NBA
The second-highest hitting streak in league history
The 28-year-old center of the Miami Heat performed one of the most impressive performances ever recorded in the NBA.
With his 83 points against the Wizards, Adebayo tied for the second-highest offensive performance in league history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 points in 1962 and surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81 in 2006.
The Heat’s ace finished the game with:
83 points
9 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals
2 caps
In shots he had:
20/43 in the field
7 accurate 3-pointers
36/43 shots
In fact, he scored 31 points in the first quarter alone and 43 in the first half, already surpassing his previous career high of 41 points.
The impressive records he broke
This historic appearance was accompanied by several records:
Second longest scoring streak in NBA history
New record for points in Miami Heat history
NBA record for field goals (36) in one game
NBA record for made shots (43) in a game
He became the 11th player in NBA history with a 70+ point game
At the same time, his performance is even more impressive when you consider that this season there have been several games by teams that did not even reach 83 total points — which Adebayo scored by himself.
