Measuring the multimedia readiness of newsrooms

WAN-IFRA is delving deeper into newsrooms’ multimedia capabilities and conducting a global survey of top media executives to help inform a report (supported by base Media Cloud) to be published this summer.

80% of publishers told us in our World Press Trends survey and report this year that video and audio is one of the most important technology areas where they will invest in the next 12 months.

The 5- to 7-minute survey is available in English, German, French and Spanish.

With your input, our survey and report will examine:

  • what is the state of newsrooms’ multimedia aspirations and realities
  • where newsrooms plan to invest over the next few years
  • the challenges and opportunities newsrooms face
  • what multimedia team structures and infrastructure look like
  • where bottlenecks exist
  • what skills and organisation newsrooms should adopt

The report will feature a number of interviews with leading news organisations that are at different stages of their multimedia development and strategies, as well as actions to take.

We hope to share some of the initial results of our survey during our World News Media Congress in Marseille (1-3 June).

Hope to see you there, and appreciate your help with the survey.
