Karl-Anthony Towns Has Honest Admission About His Nickname

Nicknames in the NBA aren’t new, and some of the biggest stars have some of the most memorable monikers that people use again and again.

Some of them are loved by players, and others are deeply disliked.

While speaking with Jimmy Fallon, Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks has revealed that he doesn’t care for his nickname, “Big Purr.”

“That’s two [thumbs down]. That’s even worse than what Josh Hart said [The Big Meow]. Big Purr? I don’t know about that one. I think Cardi B’s the only one who’s gonna like that one,” Towns said.

This is a relatively new nickname for Towns and has only been used regularly since he came to the Knicks last summer.

But since then, fans have made up for lost time and have called him “Big Purr” often.

That’s not the only thing he’s called, and people also refer to him as “Special K,” “KAT,” Bodega K.A.T.,” and more.

In the season ahead, fans are hoping that they can call him champion, too.

The Knicks are poised to have a great season, especially because the Eastern Conference is wide open, and there is a chance they could push past the competition because the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers have been impacted by injuries.

If there is a time for the Knicks to capitalize on all their talent and have unparalleled success, it’s now.

Towns might not like this nickname, but it symbolizes the close connection and friendship he has built with his teammates in a short amount of time.
