Jordan Love Reveals Honest Thoughts About Packers Rookie
Green Bay Packers fans jumped for joy when the team finally used a first-round draft pick on a wide receiver.
This ended a streak of over 20 years without selecting a wideout in the first round, as they’ve been able to make it work with homegrown talent in the later rounds.
Drafting players in the first round, of course, gives teams a chance at athletes with higher upside, and Matthew Golden gives them exactly that.
He was a highly-touted prospect coming out of college, primarily known for his speed and the ability to be a game-breaking downfield threat.
While all of this is true, the Packers haven’t utilized him much, which Jordan Love admitted in a recent appearance on the “Up & Adams” show.
“People are just starting to see what we see in practice from [Matthew Golden] every day. I know he’s going to be a really great player in the NFL. It’s just early. We haven’t found ways to be able to get him the ball as much. Some of that’s on me. We got so many different receivers and weapons out there. We’re going to keep finding ways to get him the ball, and he’s going to have a great career here. No doubt about it,” Love said.

Love would like to scheme up more plays for the rookie speedster, but it just hasn’t happened yet.
Tucker Kraft has been the primary pass-catcher through seven games, leading the team in yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns.
Golden has the third-most yards and targets, so he’s a top-three asset, at least, but he’s not the No. 1 guy that many thought he’d be coming out of college.
It’s a long season, and there’s still plenty of time for him to get worked into this offense and have the breakout season he was expected to have.
The Packers’ offense is starting to roll, as evidenced by Jordan Love’s 360-yard performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and if he starts targeting Golden more, his ceiling is limitless moving forward.
