Jets Have Made A Decision About Next DC
With new head coach Aaron Glenn in place for the New York Jets, his staff is starting to take shape.
While they’re still in need of an offensive coordinator with Nathaniel Hackett gone, they now have a new defensive coordinator in place.
Steve Wilks, who was the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator in 2023, has reportedly agreed to terms to hold that position with the Jets under Glenn, per Tom Pelissero.

Wilks was fired by the Niners after one season as their defensive coordinator, but he did well enough to have them ranked third in points allowed and get them to the brink of a Super Bowl championship.
The Jets haven’t won one since the 1968 season, and they haven’t even made the playoffs since 2010, which gives them the longest playoff drought in the NFL.
However, they do have plenty of talent on the defensive side of the football.
Sauce Gardner is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and up front, they have studs such as Quinnen Williams and Quincy Williams.
They had been one of the better defensive teams in football until Robert Saleh was fired in October following a little over three seasons as their head coach, and their defense fell apart shortly afterward.
Of course, the biggest question facing the Jets has nothing to do with defense.
Aaron Rodgers’ future with them remains in doubt, and if he leaves, they will have their work cut out for them as far as finding an adequate replacement at the quarterback position.
