Ian Rapoport Reveals His Thoughts On Titans’ Next Potential Coach

The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan just six games into his second season, and his brief run ended with a dismal 4-19 record.

With Mike McCoy taking over for the rest of the season, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared his thoughts about what they should look for in their next head coach.

“It doesn’t seem like there’s a can’t-miss candidate. Everyone’s going to focus on who can fix this quarterback (Cam Ward). I would more focus on leading and who can get the room better as opposed to who is the sort of quarterback guru,” Rapaport said.

Callahan was supposed to be the quarterback guru, based on his recent history as the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator and working with Joe Burrow.

But he didn’t develop Will Levis into a viable starter, and Ward isn’t developing as expected after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ward’s future is far and away the most important thing for the franchise, and the next head coach has to reflect that.

Rapoport mentioned current offensive coordinators Matt Nagy, Joe Brady and Arthur Smith as possible candidates.

But he also highlighted how well Dan Quinn has done since taking over the Washington Commanders as a defensive-minded head coach who has offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury on his staff to develop quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Tennessee needs stability above anything, and it’s never too early to speculate on who the next head coach could be.

Whoever it is, he will have a big mess to clean up.
