Damian Lillard Says He’s Retiring From NBA Skills Event
The NBA has a problem getting stars to care or even partake in the All-Star weekend festivities.
That isn’t the case with Damian Lillard.
More often than not, even when he didn’t get the nod to be an All-Star, the Milwaukee Bucks point guard was there to give it his best.
He won back-to-back three-point shooting contests, was named All-Star Game MVP, and also won the Skills Challenge multiple times.
That’s why he’s ready to call it quits.
Following his first-round exit in the 2024-25 3-Point Shooting Contest, the superstar point guard claimed that he is done participating.

Lillard isn’t getting any younger, so any additional rest he can get for the remainder of his career will be more than welcome.
Lillard will still take the court on Sunday to try and replicate his success in previous All-Star Games, and his flashy moves and three-level scoring are tailor-made for this event.
He will most likely also get the nod to be an All-Star more times down the road.
But he’s inching closer to the back end of his career, and as such, it’s time he allows younger players to get their fair shot at making a name for themselves in these festivities.
