Colin Cowherd Gives Unfortunate Outlook For Bears QB

The Chicago Bears entered this offseason with sky-high expectations.

They hired an offensive-minded head coach to turn things around after a disappointing tenure with Matt Eberflus.

However, the early returns from training camp haven’t been encouraging at all.

Caleb Williams looks lost and out of sorts, and he hasn’t shown much sign of improvement from his up-and-down rookie season.

That’s why Colin Cowherd believes the Bears may not be very patient with him (via The Volume):

“If Caleb struggles over the next two years, you can move him and get a good pick. Caleb’s the kind of guy Chicago can move off. Ben’s not taking the heat, and you could get something for Caleb,” Cowherd said.

Williams has the physical tools to be one of the best quarterbacks in the game.

It’s never fair or accurate to count out a player after some struggles as a rookie, and the Bears didn’t do much to help his case, either.

Nevertheless, there’s just too much bad tape of him right now.

Even in low-stakes situations, he’s made questionable decisions, has tried to do too much, and has missed wide-open receivers or tossed head-scratching interceptions.

He won’t get away with those reckless, across-the-body, off-balance throws that often bailed him out in college; this is the pros.

He will now play for a creative, offensive-minded coach, and he has an improved offensive line and a strong set of weapons around him, so there’s no room for excuses anymore.

Perhaps we can throw away and ignore everything that happened during his rookie season because Eberflus clearly wasn’t the right type of coach to develop him.

But unless he cleans his act soon, the Bears might start having some difficult conversations about their franchise quarterback.
