Broutsis: “There will be no tolerance, end to toxicity”
The Deputy Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Yiannis Broutsis, sent a letter to Dimitris Giannakopoulos and the brothers Angelopoulos inviting them to an emergency meeting.
Following the announcement of Pavlos Marinakis, the organizing authority formalized the postponement of the third game of the final of the Greek Championship that was to take place next Wednesday 4/6.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Yiannis Broutsis invited the presidents of the two OEMs to an emergency meeting. In the letter he sent to Dimitris Giannakopoulos and the Angelopoulos, he announced the day and time when their meeting was scheduled.
As the General Secretariat of Sports made known through the announcement, the meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 4 at 15:00, at the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports.
In detail the letter:
'Following the postponement of the basketball match Panathinaikos – Olympicon June 4, due to the sad events that took place during the Olympic -Panathinaikos match of June 1 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, I call you at a joint meeting in my office, at Ministry of sports.
The government must – and is determined – to preserve the smooth and safe conduct of sports events, the proper functioning of institutions, social cohesion and, above all, the safety of citizens.
Any form of urging, tolerance or concealment of violence, by public placements and by actions and omissions, is not accepted.
The repetition of such phenomena – independently of fault – will lead to the immediate interruption of the championship.
We are not going to allow the conversion of sport into a vehicle of division, polarization and organized violence.
It is the duty of all to contribute, immediately and in practice, to the restoration of the elementary athletic class and respect for rules and institutions.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 4 at 15:00, at the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports.
Its purpose is to put a definitive end to the capital of toxicity.
In this context, you will be invited to post publicly and take responsibility, with responsibility, the commitment to a new start in Greek basketball, based on mutual respect, defined by the sporty spirit!
The state is determined. There will be no further tolerance. “
