Now, the Buffalo Bills are bidding farewell to a key member of their offensive line.
Bills backup offensive lineman Tommy Doyle announced his medical retirement from the NFL on Friday, forced to step away after nerve damage from a left leg injury cut his career short after four seasons.
While the decision was difficult, his long-term health had to take priority.

The announcement marks the end of Doyle’s NFL chapter, leaving the Bills with another roster spot to address this offseason as they continue shaping their team for the future.
Selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round from Miami (OH), Doyle found his role on the team, appearing in 12 career games while logging 102 offensive snaps and contributing another 48 on special teams.
His journey wasn’t without setbacks – a torn ACL in 2022 landed him on injured reserve, followed by another serious leg injury during the 2023 preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers that put him on the PUP list.
Despite these challenges, Doyle created his own piece of Bills history, memorably catching a one-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen during Buffalo’s AFC Wild Card victory over the New England Patriots in 2022.
As Doyle closes this chapter of his life, he now looks ahead to new opportunities beyond the football field.
