Bears Announce Full List Of Coordinators

After years of struggling for respectability across the NFL, the Chicago Bears are hoping they have started a new day by hiring Ben Johnson to be their head coach.

Johnson was the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator for the past three seasons and during that time helped transform them from a longtime laughingstock into a legitimate powerhouse and Super Bowl contender.

His staff in Chicago is taking shape, and according to the team on X, Dennis Allen will be his defensive coordinator, Declan Doyle will be his offensive coordinator, and Richard Hightower will return as special teams coordinator.

Allen has been an NFL coach since 2002, when he started as a defensive quality control coach for the Atlanta Falcons following several years as an assistant coach in the NCAA.

He eventually became Denver Broncos defensive coordinator in 2011, and spent the following three years as head coach of the Oakland Raiders.

He was the New Orleans Saints’ defensive coordinator from 2015 to 2021, and was then promoted to become Saints head coach, a role he held until he was fired in November.

Doyle spent the past two seasons as the Broncos’ tight ends coach, and before that he was an offensive assistant with the Saints from 2019 to 2022.

Hightower will be returning for his fourth season as the Bears’ special teams coordinator.

He previously held that role with the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2021 after he was the Bears’ assistant special teams coach in 2016.
