Bayern – Monaco 91-82: Unstoppable Bavarians, fourth straight victory
Bayern Munich look unstoppable. The German champions celebrated their fourth consecutive victory, beating Monaco 91-82 in a high-profile match in front of 10,250 fans. With this success, the Munich team reached 12 wins in this year’s EuroLeague, sending a clear message of continuity.
Despite Mike James’ 30 points, Bayern “locked up” the game with excellent team defense and total concentration in the fourth quarter.
Team supremacy and protagonist Obst
Andreas Obst was the top scorer of the Bavarians with 19 points, while the presence of Gabriel was also decisive, offering 10 points and 8 rebounds, dominating the racket. Bayern relied on a balance of defense and attack, with proper spacing and patience in their play.
Without Lucic, but with character
Svetislav Pesic’s team again played without their captain, Vladimir Lucic, who was absent due to illness. His place in the starting line-up was taken by Nils Giffey. Monaco responded, taking advantage of offensive rebounds and the entry of Mirotic, going ahead in the score (29-31). However, the hosts closed out the first half brilliantly, with a 3-pointer by Dimitrijevic at the end and a 48-39 lead.
The fourth quarter is decisive
In the second half, Bayern continued to find solutions from the perimeter, increasing the difference to +10 (60-50). Monaco tried to claw their way back into the game, with James scoring on a flurry to cut it to 63-60.
However, in the last ten minutes the Bavarians showed absolute concentration. Mike’s difficult 3-pointer and Gabriel’s decisive defenses brought the score to 79-67, with Obst “ending” the match with his favorite shot, sealing the victory.
Pesic: “I’m proud of the team”
Svetislav Pesic declared himself completely satisfied with the effort of his players, stressing that, despite the significant absences, defensive cohesion and fighting spirit made the difference. He stood out with 25 assists against a very aggressive defense, highlighting the team’s collective function.
Continue with a demanding schedule
Bayern continue their run in the German league with an away game in Heidelberg, while next week follows the crucial EuroLeague match against Maccabi Tel Aviv. The next home game is on February 17th, in a practice match ahead of the Cup.
