Analyst Shares Why Rui Hachimura Has Been Impressive With The Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a size problem for a while, but especially since they lost Anthony Davis in the Luka Doncic trade.

But multiple stars have been trying to step up and fill the void, including Rui Hachimura.

Writing on X, Rit Holtzman praised Hachimura, saying he loves how the star has “embraced the offensive role as a 5 man.”

“Showing real screening craft and rolling hard – really impressive for a career-wing,” Holtzman wrote.

Small thing but love how Rui has embraced the offensive role as a 5 man.

Hachimura has certainly been an aggressive player on both ends of the court.

He is still an offensive talent, but he has been paying close attention to his defensive powers too.

When it comes to screening, he is more than happy to throw his body into traffic, allowing his teammates to find their spots and take a shot.

Hachimura has also always had an ability to sneak into the paint, carving his way into the post in order to get a rebound, block, or make a bucket for himself.

Head coach JJ Redick has asked more of Hachimura this season, especially after the Davis trade.

He has been a key part of the Lakers’ identity since February and is obviously very committed to his team.

On Tuesday night, he was hit in the face and walked directly to the locker room to be examined.

But he wasn’t gone long and was soon back on the court, wearing a face mask and clearly dedicated to playing.

This shows just how eager he is to help his team.

Hachimura has become a role player who will do just about anything for the Lakers.

He always wants to have an impact, and he has been delivering.
