Mastoros: “We see every match as if we have lost the previous one”

Kronos Agios Dimitrios prevailed with 58-75 of Ethnikos Livadia away from home, in the context of the 7th game of the 2nd group of National League 1, and the winners’ guard, Venos Mastoros, spoke on his “Hear what you did” show OK WebRadio with Leonidas Pistiolis.

He said in detail:

For the victory over Ethnikos Livadia: “The truth is that from the beginning of the week the coaching staff had prepared us that it would be a difficult game. We stayed focused on the plan and managed to win a difficult away game relatively easily. In the 1st half we were close, in the 2nd we saw with our coach what we needed to improve. The difference slipped away and we kept it until the end.”

On his team’s defensive approach: “Anyway, the coaching staff puts a lot of emphasis on defense. This is where we start our game and end up attacking.”

For the unbeaten start (6-0) in the league and this year’s goal: “From the beginning, the team was built to star and we see it every day on the court. In the end we will also fulfill the goals we have set as a team. It is certainly still early, but we have said that promotion is a clear goal. We see this game by game.”

For the upcoming (22/11) game with Glaukos/Esperos: “We see each game as if we have lost the previous one. This is how we will deal with the match with Glaukos Espero.”

On roster depth and chemistry: “In a championship-winning team, you expect all the players to… add water to their wine so that we can all achieve something good together. One player can star on a Saturday, someone else the next match. There are roles and they can be seen on the field as well.”

On his decision to go from the Elite League to the National League 1: “It makes some difference. However, the way the two categories are structured, they are not completely different. “National League 1 has improved a lot and many players from the top division are choosing it.”

For his high performance in big matches: “I don’t feel like I have to come forward. It’s positive, but I get the game. Maybe in another match I miss the shots and another protagonist is found. That’s why we have such a big roster.”
