Sam Darnold Gets Notable Recognition For Week 6 Performance

The Seattle Seahawks entered the season with questions surrounding Sam Darnold after inconsistent stints with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, before a complete turnaround with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

Those doubts have been answered emphatically through six weeks.

On Sunday, Darnold guided Seattle to a convincing road victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars with arguably his finest performance in a Seahawks uniform.

Darnold earned a 94.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, the highest mark among all quarterbacks in Week 6 and the top single-game performance across the league this season.

The veteran signal-caller completed 16 of 27 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, finishing with a passer rating of 121.7 while averaging 10.9 yards per attempt.

Explosive plays defined the afternoon, including a 61-yard touchdown strike to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and an 11-yard scoring connection with Cooper Kupp.

The quarterbacks trailing Darnold in Week 6 grades included Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler at 93.2, Patriots rookie Drake Maye at 91.0, Giants signal-caller Jaxson Dart at 89.7, and Steelers veteran Aaron Rodgers at 82.9.

Seattle’s offensive resurgence has been fueled largely by the deep-ball chemistry between Darnold and Smith-Njigba, who currently leads the NFL in receiving yards.

Darnold’s growth in decision-making and ball security has been noticeable throughout this stretch.

Through six games, he has accumulated 1,541 passing yards with 11 touchdowns against just three interceptions while posting a passer rating of 111.4 and averaging 10.0 yards per attempt.

His efficiency reflects both improved talent around him and greater comfort within Seattle’s offensive scheme.
