Over 70 killed in attack by Sudan paramilitary in al-Fashir, Sovereignty Council says
According to the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, more than 70 people were killed in Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur state, during prayers when Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces carried out a drone strike on a mosque.

The attack comes amid the latest bout of violence in a civil war entering its third year between the Sudanese army and the RSF.
For over two years, the RSF and the army have been fighting a fierce civil war.
The paramilitaries are gaining momentum in their attempt to take complete control of El Fasher, Darfur’s final army stronghold and home to almost 300,000 people trapped by the war.

According to a medical source, 78 people died and about 20 were injured, but the process of extracting the dead from the building’s rubble is still underway.
